Boucher's World, where every sentient being is endowed with psychic abilities.
But, having these abilities hasn't been any help in getting them out of a dome that covers their entire continent, effectively keeping them imprisoned.
No one knows who - or what - erected the dome. Or why. It appeared a year after Earthlings joined another race, the Elwists, on the planet in the Epsilon Eridani star system. Its presence effectively cut both races off from their home worlds, and there has been no contact for over two thousand years.
Jade Lowry is a descendant of the original settlers. So is Tally. Jade's human ancestors brought Tally's cat forebears along to the exoplanet as pets, and due to the mutations that caused the development of the psychic abilities in both species, they now live as equals. These two, both teenagers of their kind, were raised together and are now partners employed by Nuisance Apprehenders, Inc., the leading pest control company among all the villages and enclaves.
One day while chasing a renegade mouse, they make a remarkable discovery: a door to the outside. Have the two pest company workers found the key to freedom?
