"She and Allan" by H. Rider Haggard is the fourth book in the Ayesha series, which began with "She: A History of Adventure." The novel takes place several years after the events of "Ayesha: The Return of She," and follows the adventures of the Englishman Allan Quatermain and his companions as they journey to the lost city of Kôr to rescue Ayesha from her immortal torment. The novel begins with Allan receiving a letter from Umslopogaas, the Zulu warrior who accompanied him on his previous adventures in Africa. The letter describes how Ayesha has called upon Umslopogaas to come to Kôr and assist her in a great task. Allan is intrigued by this and sets out to find Umslopogaas and join him on his journey. "She and Allan" is a must-read for fans of Haggard's work and of adventure fiction in general. It is a thrilling and engaging novel that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
