In this second installment of the Highland Bookshop Mystery series, Lucy Paterson energetically characterizes American Janet Marsh and her friends as they help investigate multiple murders in a small Scottish town. Paterson effectively handles the various American and Scottish accents as well-known author Daphne Wood comes to town for a book signing, only to irritate nearly everyone there with her rudeness and abrasive personality. Not surprisingly, she's found dead. As Janet and her friends work to figure out how Daphne's murder ties in with two others, they find themselves in a precarious situation. Paterson captures the emotions and humor, making this a fun, light listen. It would be best to start with book one. M.M.G. © AudioFile 2018, Portland, Maine
