Soft lines and warm colors accompany Claverie's ordinary retelling of the old story. In this version, the three pigs read of the return of the big bad wolf in the newspaper, and build their houses accordingly. The first pig escapes from his straw house to join his brother in the house of twigs, and both of them run to the stone house where the third brother lives. Fortunately, the wolf ends up in the pot over the fire. Unfortunately, the humor exhibited in the first few pages is not sustained, and without it, this book offers little new for the price. Ages 5-8.
