The Iliad

Homer has been hailed as the father of all poetry, and The Iliad has survived as a masterpiece for all time!. Set against the backdrop of the final days of the Trojan War, the Iliad tells the story of Achilles, a model warrior and paragon of all qualities the Greeks prized most in a young hero. Retired from his commander and king, Agamemnon, Achilles is pulled back into the conflict by the death of his friend, Patroclus. Achilles' wrath knows no bounds as he exacts bloody vengeance and brings the proud city of Troy to ruins. It is only by the command of Zeus, Chief of the gods, that Achilles permits the body of the slain Trojan champion, Hector, to be returned to his mourning father, King Priam.
