Lee Osorio brings his deep voice and its many variations to this long romantic suspense set in New Orleans and its environs. There are many characters in this audiobook, including J.P. "Kaj" Cardozo; his son, precocious 10-year-old Elijah; private investigator Val Sorensen; and a criminally engaged family. When two members of the family try to kidnap Elijah, Cardozo hires Sorensen and her firm to protect the boy and investigate the crime. Osorio's ability to use his voice to keep all the characters consistently separate and distinct, even the ones with lesser roles, is impressive.
