Of special note is Woodman's exceptional rendering of the various characters--Will's Apache grandfather telling the chilling tale of Red Horse, Will's youthful energy, and the crooks' growling nastiness. Woodman's talent for steady, clear pacing and suspense-building makes him a natural for relating Paulsen's adventure tale.
