YA- -Danielle Ross is thrust into running her father's detective agency after he has a heart attack. Because business is faltering, she accepts an offer from the Lanzas, one of New Orleans's organized-crime families, to serve as a tutor/bodyguard for their three children. She endears herself to the family not only because she can work well with the children but, more importantly, because she saves them from an attack by a rival family. Morris weaves an intriguing story. Unusual in this mystery, though, is the Christian slant; it isn't intrusive, but it does come into play periodically, and not always consistently, throughout the novel.- Diane Goheen, Topeka West High School, KS
