When two New York City girls, Charlie Thornton and Lindsey Bradley, meet at the Shark Bar, a new friendship is born over a round of cosmopolitan martinis. Charlie is a copywriter from Buffalo, New York, whose passion for writing brought her to the Big Apple. Lindsey is an aspiring television producer from St. Louis who left home to escape the shadow of her famous mother. Both women are determined to confront their bosses and demand more respect for their contributions. Charlie is living with a man who has been unfaithful and carelessly flaunts his current affair. Lindsey is in love with a video producer whose playboy personality makes him that much more desirable. Both women need the courage to leave these unworthy men and get on with their lives. Charlie and Lindsey grow to depend on each other for the moral and spiritual support missing in their relationships with other women.
